Description

Humana seeks an experienced public relations pro to join its Corporate Communications Line of Business communications team working remote anywhere in the US. We're looking for a self-starter who can develop productive relationships with journalists, counsel senior leaders and carry public relations plans from concept to completion. You'll have the resources to bring your creative ideas to life, and you'll work for an innovative, growing organization in one of today's most challenging sectors - health care.

Humana, the nation's largest provider of senior-focused primary care, operates more than 200 primary care centers under the CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Center brands, serving nearly 240,000 patients and rapidly growing. By the end of 2022, Humana expects to serve Medicare patients in approximately 250 CenterWell and Conviva clinics, and intends to add 30 to 50 additional CenterWell clinics per year through 2025.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Communications Lead - External Primary Care Communications - will orchestrate public relations and communications for Humana's Primary Care Organization. A large part of this newly created position involves promoting new primary care centers as they come online, as well as building the organization's reputation as the leading provider of senior-focused primary care.

This position is open for work at home or in any Humana office, with a preference for residing in the Eastern or Central time zone.

Key Role Functions

Enhance Humana's reputation - particularly our primary care business, including the CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Center brands - through well-executed strategic public relations, media relations and communications

Responsibilities encompass media relations, public relations, digital and social media, and thought leadership/executive communications

Act as company spokesperson and media liaison on matters pertaining to primary care and in areas with a CenterWell or Conviva primary care presence

Foster strong relationships with news media outlets; pitch media and track results

Advise leadership on working with the media; provide counsel on issues and crisis management

Unify compelling words, memorable images and the latest technology to inform, engage and energize key external audiences in support of strategic objectives

Develop messaging, news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, digital and social media content, speeches, presentations

This is a high-level individual contributor role, without direct reports, but PR agency support is available

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related field OR equivalent work experience in related field

8 years of experience in media relations, PR and communications

Large organization/corporate media relations experience

Experience promoting health care organizations and/or consumer brands

Strong, demonstrated persuasive writing experience

Excellent verbal & written communication skills

Abundant creativity; strong desire to learn

Crisis and issues management experience

Social media savvy

Familiarity with public relations measurement techniques

Proficiency in managing the work of public relations agencies and vendors

Proven ability to interact with all levels of leadership

Skill to perform & exceed expectations in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

PR agency or news media experience

Background in health care communications

Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages

Additional Information/Requirements

Covid-19 Vaccine/Testing Requirement

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.

Work at Home/Remote Requirements

Must ensure designated work area is free from distractions during work hours and virtual meetings

Must provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a workspace (Satellite and Hotspots are prohibited). A minimum standard speed of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) for optimal performance of is required
