Job Description
Senior Content Strategist
As a Senior Content Strategist you will determine the approach to identifying, prioritizing, planning and managing content aligned to our clients' marketing initiatives. This is a multi-faceted role that requires both a strategic eye to ensure content is supporting objectives as well as a foundational knowledge of how content is managed by supporting systems.
What Will You Do?
Align business and audience objectives to content decisions and investment
Develop insights and opportunities based off content audits and landscape analysis
Help lead development of content plans including when and how to produce or procure content
Provide governance guidance across the content lifecycle
Help determine deployment cadence and outlets
Create and/or contribute to the creation of high-value content
Provide input into content measurement standards and suggestions for optimizing content performance
Work across digital channels including websites, social media, email as well as across form factors such as copy, graphics, video and rich media
Provide guidance to client-side content creators, managers and administrators
See the connections between content and people, and how they create meaningful relationships
Support the agency's account service, project management, and creative teams
Advise both the agency and clients on best practices for content strategy and content marketing initiatives
Manage schedules and deadlines
What Skills Do You Need?
Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
The ability to self-start, wrangle ambiguity and manage time effectively
Be hardworking, dedicated and detail-oriented
The ability to create comprehensive strategy from overall objective through to content pillars and types of content needed to achieve success
Knowledge of content distribution best practices (including proper mediums and cadence) and experience designing content calendars and activating in digital, social and other channels
An understanding of content architecture i.e. how content must be classified and structured to be consumed by back end systems and effectively maintained by content managers
An ability to connect brand to content tone of voice through guidelines and examples
Knowledge of SEO and effective digital inbound strategies to inform content creation
Strength collaborating with team members - including remote team members - such as data analysts, designers and other strategists
The ability to unearth relevant case studies, data points and consumer insights to strengthen an overall story
An editorial eye to help identify relevant topics of interest and the right way to shape content for an audience
The ability to create effective briefs and decks to guide content execution
We Are Seeking Someone With
Bachelor's or Master's degree (Communications, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field) required
At least five years of experience as a strategist (good mix of strategy projects with at least three years of content strategy experience)
Knowledge of the latest digital tools, vendors and trends with perspective on how to apply them to client business
Experience working with large companies - ideally both B2C and B2B
Willingness to travel up to twice a month
