The Technical Writer team develops and publishes documentation for Mitratech's software products that provide solutions for workflow automation, legal operations, enterprise compliance, contract creation and human resources. This user documentation could include product user, administration, and technical guides, as well as tutorials and instructional videos. Technical writers work with Agile software development teams as well as other departments to support internal staff as well as end users.
The
Technical Writer III
is capable of independently managing new product documentation of higher complexity from start to finish. The Technical Writer III may also mentor other team members and is an expert user in the authoring tools used (including troubleshooting and ability to edit source code, CSS, and templates if needed). The Technical Writer III may lead global projects such as the creation of team process and workflows.
Esse
ntial Duties & Responsibilities
Create, update and maintain client-facing documentation including targeted MindTouch articles, online help, API documentation, release notes, administrator and end user guides, and PDFs
Consult with Development, QA, Technical Project Managers and Product Managers throughout software development process to meet internal and external needs
Analyze different audiences to produce optimal format and content in documentation
Proactively solve documentation problems and/or consult company resources for quick turnaround on project deliverables
Follow technical writer group processes
Assess, track, and prioritize project requests
Learn how to use tools and software after initial training
Work with cross-functional stakeholders to create new and update existing documentation to better meet internal and/or client needs
Required Skills & Experience
5 years of experience as a technical writer for software products
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Education, English, Journalism, or related field
Familiarity with Agile software development
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Familiarity with authoring tools such as Microsoft Word, MindTouch (preferred), Help Manual, or RoboHelp
Experience in instructional design or with HTML/CSS a plus
