Pasadena, CA - The job market is showing favorable signs of continued improvement in journalism and mass communication opportunities in America. Latest job search on the JournalismCrossing jobsite shows that the journalism profession is far from 'dying' in the U.S. At the time of writing this press release, there were 4,796 journalism jobs on the job site. This is in line with the findings brought to light through a survey conducted by The University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication. The survey has shown that there were signs of improvement in employment chances for those involved in the journalism profession in 2012, the benefits of which have also spilled into 2013. This suggests that the worst in terms of the job market for journalism graduates has become history.

Researching the job market, JournalismCrossing has also observed that journalism and mass communication graduates around the country are getting high salaries. Even in the most trying times in 2012 they got a salary of about $32,000 compared with $31,000 a year earlier, and the salaries haven't dropped yet.

Increasing jobs and high salaries in this journalism and mass communication field have offset the impact of the relatively low inflation in the country. As per the survey, 66 percent of the 2012 graduates got a full-time job six to eight months after graduation. This is good news at a time when graduates in other fields like law are still struggling to find work after the Great Depression. David Cuillier, Director of the School of Journalism and President of the Society of Professional Journalists says, "It's not a dramatic recovery, just like our stock market and our economy hasn't had a huge recovery, but it's improving." The economic improvement is working to the benefit of journalism and mass communication graduates. Particularly, a remarkable growth has been noted in the news industry.

A state-wise search for journalism jobs on the JournalismCrossing site reports that there are 549 journalism openings in California, 564 chances in New York, 317 opportunities in Texas, 270 active openings in Illinois and 209 positions awaiting takers in Florida.
